Carmen McManus’ Art

Carmen McManus’ Art

It was 2012 when I received the best Christmas present my husband has bought me. Yup… better than jewelry! Knowing I loved to tinker around with painting flower pots, bird houses, vases and platters.  Jack decided it was time for an easel, 4 small canvases, oil paints and a handsome carrying case.

My brother Andreas once lent me the ol Bob Ross CD where I finally dove into the challenge of wet on wet! Super fun, extremely messy, and incredibly addicting. I was proud of my stuff even though the paintings were hideous. As I hung all my art on a wall be it good or bad, and dedicated it to the “Wall of Shame”. I do not have that wall anymore, however, those funny gems are stored in a big ol TV box for memorises to cherish and call “In the Beginning”. I am now working on “Walls of Sane” since I find painting not only enjoyable, it has become my therapy.  My medium has changed from oil to acrylic. I began classes in Kelowna with an amazing artist Dani Lachuck who taught me the tools that will last a life time! Thank you Dani for putting up with me!

I moved to Salmon Arm in 2014 and joined the variety of amazing artist at Blind Bay Painters. I have landed into the Shuswap art community by fluke and so blessed to be a BBP with a group of sharing and caring gals! Thank You my dear friends at BBPainters!
