Judy Mackenzie grew up in the Okanagan Valley with an appreciation for nature in all its variations. She loved the jigsaw puzzle bark of the pines, the moss on the rocks, the birds in the surrounding forest. She drew and painted all her life, but the texture workshop by David Langevin inspired her to paint with acrylic gels and washes of colour. Since then, she has painted prolifically. She belongs to the local chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists, the Blind Bay Painters Group, and the Shuswap Festival of Arts. She gives workshops and teaches classes and is a long time vendor at the Art in the Park. She has held one-man and two-man shows in the area, and enters many art competitions, where she has won several awards. In her own home based Art Gallery in Chase, she paints and displays her own artwork, and holds classes and workshops.
