Lynda Earley’s Art

Lynda Earley’s Art

I was an artist as a child – as we all are – but “real life” intervened.  I devoted my life to teaching, travelling and to my family.  Now in retirement, I have again found time to be an artist.  Encounters with some very creative artists have inspired me, especially Lisa Figuroa and Diana Waller.  I have enjoyed the support and encouragement of the Blind Bay Painters group and of my family: Peter, Patrick and Sinead.

My chosen medium is water colour pencil, although I have done some work in collage and acrylic.  My favourite subjects include flowers and birds.  I am inspired by the beauty of our summer home in the Shuswap and of our winter home in La Manzanilla, Mexico.  I have also painted poppies in Croatia, buddhas in South East Asia, and totem in Haida Gwaii.  Recently I’ve begun a series of paintings and collages which capture memories of the family farm in Manitoba.  These I hope to use to illustrate the book I am writing about my grandmother’s life.
