Fran Lewis’ Art

Fran Lewis’ Art

Fran is a long time resident of North Shuswap at Celista.  She enjoys the outdoors and has visited many back country areas within the province.  She has painted since 1982 beginning with oils, which she has used exclusively til the early 90’s.  Since then she has explored the use of watercolours, pastels, and acrylics.  She is mainly self-taught through reading, workshops and a couple of correspondence courses from Emily Carr College of Art and observation of other artists work.  She believes that simply making time to experiment with paint is the best art education.  She loves to explore styles, mediums and methods challenging herself to keep on developing the talent that God has given her.

During the years of the Shuswap Festival of Art in Sorrento, Fran was a regular contributor to the show and served on the executive for many years.  In 1995 she was honoured by  having one of her works chosen for the Festival’s John Edgar Patterson Memorial Collection.
