Born in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan, Valerie grew up enchanted by the nature she was surrounded with, often speaking of the the beautiful lakes, forests and stunning northern lights of her youth, and the impact on her inner self. She yearned to expand her artistic realm and after moving to the Shuswap in 2004, found herself attending art shows and engaging with those of similar desires and interests. She was particularly taken with paintings of the then Sorrento seven, as well as the diversity of expressions from such avenues as the Shuswap Festival of the Arts.
Finally after a long career in Social Work, Valerie decided to take up the paint brush in 2010. She started attending classes and joined the Blind Bay Painters group in 2012. This experience has opened up the beauty of life around her and her desire to interpret that experience of the mind to others. Valerie continues to evolve in her artistic skills. She has found that magic connection between the soul and the beauty of life in the Shuswap and continues to extract from others and herself that which gives her true inner peace.
Valerie and her husband reside in Blind Bay, B.C.
