While the weather is great in Shuswap, the smoke today is tending to put a damper on the typical outdoor activities. Thankfully a drive in a air filtered air-conditioned car is not out of the question. Great time to take family and visitors to the great artisan markets in the neighbourhood. Today’s feature artisan market is the “Reedman Gallery Artisan Collaborative” right in the Shuswap, in the Reedman Gallery in Blind Bay Hall. This is right across from Sandy Beach just off of Blind Bay Road. A stroll through the market is just the thing that can lift one’s spirits from the smoky exterior going on right now! If you are interested in finding out more about the market, here is the Facebook link Reedman Gallery Artist Collaborative

Painting Puzzle
So what is this you ask? The Blind Bay Painters created a large painting with 60 canvases combined to make one painting as a group project this year! This is a snippet of cropped picture of the whole painting all put together and framed beautifully (Thanks to Bill Burton for building our massive frame for it!) This painting will be present in the Reedman Gallery during the Canada Day weekend (Fri/Sat 10-4) Each artist takes one or two 6×6 canvases with a grid cutout of their part they need to paint. None of the artists except for the organizer knows what the final painting will look like until they are all complete and framed. The painting is both real and imagined, rich in colour and soft in feel, with local sites. Can you guess what it might be? Come to the show for a viewing!
Art Show During Canada Day Weekend!

Blind Bay is always busy during the summer months, but it will really hopping on this very special 150 Anniversary Canada Day celebration. This year, Canada Day in Blind Bay is jam packed with activities including a parade, events like a pancake breakfast, kids entertainment, vendors, beer gardens, community stage events, and even concerts by Lost N Found, Cod Gone Wild and Serious Dogs all at the Centennial Park. The grand finale is a spectacular fireworks show right over the beautiful Shuswap Lake.
The Blind Bay Painters are including their very popular annual art show and sale as part of the Canada Day activities. Just walking distance from Centennial Park is the Blind Bay Community Hall (2510 Blind Bay Rd) which is home to the Reedman Gallery where great selection of eclectic local artwork is on display for sale. Meet the artists and pop upstairs to grab a snack and a drink in our air conditioned hall and relax while you browse through boutique items such as prints, art cards, jewelry, and other artisan works. Art Show dates this year are Jun 30th and July 1st from 10 – 4 pm. See you there! For more information about the Canada Day events, go to http://www.shuswapcanadaday.ca.
