In Dialogue with the Collection

In Dialogue with the Collection

So how do you create a painting that “speaks” to historical art?    Come check out how…at the “In Dialogue with the Collection” art show starting on January 18th, 2019 at the Salmon Arm Art Centre.   Besides the 12 individual artists that found ways to “speak” to various pieces in the historical collection, a twenty artist installation will be completed by the Blind Bay Painters that will speak to Margaret Lund’s historical painting, “Moon Rising”.   The installation shows just how many different inspirations that can be created from one painting!  Check out times and events associated with this showing at the link here.  What do you see, that speaks to you?

When Are You an Artist?

IMG_3899When are you an Artist?  Interesting how people have varying opinions on this question.  I found Deborah Christensen’s response, a writer and artist who looked at various “definitions” of an artist and whether there was any correlation with fact or history, one of the best responses I’ve seen to the question.  Here is a link to her article.  Am I an Artist?
