One of the advantages of being amongst a large group of artists in a community is that you learn so much from everyone. Each person brings unique experiences to the table and in an open environment that promotes sharing, we all become better artists! Yesterday we had the privilege of having Fran Lewis present a demo on color mixing. Fran had taken a course from Emily Carr Art School several years ago and she has an amazing sense of color as is evident in all her paintings. She is someone that we trust with advice when we are struggling with color. She showed us that by just using two complementary colors and selecting warm, medium, and cool tones of each, you can create a large palette of colors that work well together in a painting. Here are a few pictures from the demo! And in true Shuswap style, nature provided it’s own demonstration on color out of our hall window too!
Fran I would have loved to be there for your demo
